Ohio Liquor Control Announces 1792 Full Proof Barrel Release

The Ohio Department of Commerce - Division of Liquor Control has announced the release of 1792 Full Proof Barrel bottles.

Welcome to the second stop in our 'A Short Trip Through the Bourbon Trail' series. This post covers our time at the Four Roses Distillery. To view the entire series and follow along, click here.

After the night spent traveling and visiting the Liquor Barn, we recently made the short trek to Lawrenceburg to the Four Roses Distillery.

Four Roses rick houses and bottling are done at a separate facility so the Lawrenceburg tour covers everything from materials, to distillation, to filling and transporting out the product. The ticket also includes admission to the Warehouse and Bottling Facility Tour at the Cox's Creek, Kentucky location (within 60 days of your tour).

Texas based Devils River Whiskey has announced plans to drastically increase their distribution. The goal is to go from the 12 states they serve now to over 30 by the end of 2019.

Goodwood Brewing, who is most well known for their Louisville Lager, Walnut Brown Ale, and Bourbon Barrel Stout beers, have introduced a new small batch 12 year bourbon called Goodwood Stout Barrel Finish.

Basil Hayden's Two-By-Two Rye Review

Welcome to the review for Basil Hayden's Two-By-Two Rye. This is Basil Hayden's attempt to combine their rye and bourbon whiskies from their aging stock to create a unique flavor. To accomplish this, they combine two of their bourbon whiskeys with two of their rye whiskeys to create this version.

MGP Launches Eight & Sand Blended Whiskey Brand

MGP has announced the creation of a new brand called Eight & Sand inspired by the American railroad. The name originates from the eighth notch on a locomotive's throttle and the sand used on the wheels to prevent slipping.
"To wish a train crew an "Eight & Sand" is akin to 'smooth sailing.'"

Louisville based Angel's Envy has announced their first new release since 2013 in a limited edition run of their Angel's Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks.

Buffalo Trace Releases Two New Experimental Whiskeys

Buffalo Trace has announced the release of  two new experimental bourbons that have been aged for more than nine years in barrels made from oak staves (planks) seasoned for 36 and 48 months respectively.

Ohio Liquor Control Announces Elijah Craig Small Batch Barrel Selection

The Ohio Department of Commerce - Division of Liquor Control has announced a partnership with Heaven Hill Distillery to select 15 select barrels of Elijah Craig that have been aged from 8 to 12 years. The small batch bottles will be available beginning at 9am on Friday, February 8th at the below locations. Each store will receive 80 bottles (on average) and will retail for $27.99 + tax. The small batch is 94 proof and features a woody taste with accents of spice, smoke, and nutmeg.

Welcome to the review for Weller Antique 107. This is exciting because it is the first time we've tried a Weller product. They are definitely not easy to find in Ohio! The fun rumor about Weller 107 is people say you can mix it with Weller 12 year and you will get a poor man's Pappy Van Winkle.
