Heaven Hill Workers on Strike

Members of UFCW Local 23D (United Food & Commercial Workers) have been on strike since September 11th, picketing Heaven Hill Distillery and its recently proposed 5-year contract. The reasons given for the strike is the new contract removes a cap on health insurance premium increases that reduce take-home pay, cuts overtime, and drastically changes work schedules which makes it harder for employees to support and care for their families.

James B. Beam Distilling Co. Fills 17 Millionth Barrel of Bourbon Since Prohibition

The James B. Beam Distilling Co. had filled their 17 millionth barrel of bourbon since prohibition. Jim Beam was my bourbon of choice in college and beyond so I'm thinking I've probably accounted for at least 10% of those barrels... This is quite a milestone and has been culminated with the filling of 1 million barrels in the last 18 months alone.

As you may already know, a barrel pick is a where bars, individuals, or retailers purchase all the bottles from a single cask and sell them as an exclusive offering.
