Heaven Hill Announces Heritage Collection 17-Year-Old Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Fresh off refusing to pay their workers a fair living wage after working through a global pandemic, Heaven Hill has announced the Heaven Hill Heritage Collection. The first release in this collection is a 17-Year-Old Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The Heritage Collection will be released each Spring and feature some of their oldest inventory of aging whiskey.

Castle & Key Announces First Ever Bourbon - Coming in Two Batches

Castle & Key has announced that after four years, they're ready to launch their Small Batch Bourbon in two batches appropriately titled Whiskey Batch #1 and Whiskey Batch #2. As you may know, this is the first bourbon release for Castle & Key since taking over and restoring the Old Taylor Distillery in 2014.

OHLQ Announces 2022 Jack Daniel's Coy Hill High Proof Single Barrel Lottery Winners

The Ohio Department of Liquor has posted the results of the 2022 Jack Daniel's Coy Hill High Proof Single Barrel Lottery Winners. As is always the case, there were zero Mark R.'s who won, keeping my lifetime losing streak intact. There were five Mark's who won, including Mark H and Mark S... so we're maybe getting closer?

OHLQ Announces Ohio Release of Four Roses Private Selection Barrel Strength

The Ohio Division of Liquor Control (OHLQ) has announced the release of  Four Roses Private Selection Barrel Strength bottles hitting stores the week of March 14th at a price of $74.99 + tax per bottle. 

Bardstown Bourbon Acquired by Pritzker Private Capital

Kentucky Distiller Bardstown Bourbon Company has been purchased by private equity firm Pritzker Private Capital. Bardstown was founded in 2014 and makes their own products as well as provides custom distilling solutions to other brands.

Conecuh Brands Announces Groundbreaking for Clyde Mays Distillery

Conecuh Brands, owners of Clyde Mays, have announced the groundbreaking for a new Clyde Mays Distillery in Troy, Alabama. The groundbreaking occurred on January 24th and was attended by lots of dignitaries, including the governor of Alabama Kay Ivey.

Basil Hayden Toast Review

Welcome to the Columbus Bourbon review for Basil Hayden Toast. As readers may remember, I wrote about the release of Basil Hayden Toast in August of 2021. At that time, I mentioned how I was really excited and would be picking up a bottle as soon as I saw this on the shelves, which I did! 

The concept of this bourbon is that the secondary aging in a toasted then flash-charred oak barrel offers a unique taste. Will that be the case? Let's find out.

Today is the last day to enter the The Ohio Department of Liquor (OHLQ) lottery for Jack Daniel's Coy Hill High Proof Single Barrel.


The lottery ends at 11:59 p.m. on March 11h. You can enter at the OHLQ lottery website. In order to enter, you'll need to provide the following:
  • Ohio Driver's License Number / Ohio Identification Card Number
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Street Address
  • Date of Birth
  • Preferred OHLQ store location for purchasing the product if you win

Michter's Introduces 2022 Release of US*1 Barrel Strength Rye

Michter's has announced the 2022 release of their US*1 Barrel Strength Rye. The March 2022 release comes in with an average proof of the barrels of 111.6 proof (55.8% alcohol) and carries an MSRP of $100 for a 750ml bottle.

OHLQ Announces Lottery - Jack Daniel's Coy Hill High Proof Single Barrel - Starting March 7 (today)

The Ohio Division of Liquor Control (OHLQ) has announced a Jack Daniel's Coy Hill High Proof Single Barrel bottle lottery. This is a lottery to win the opportunity to purchase a a bottle at 16 select store locations. The lottery begins at 12:01 a.m. March 7 and runs through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Woodford Introduces 2022 Kentucky Derby Bottle

One of my favorite articles of the year.... Woodford has announced their design for the 2022 Kentucky Derby limited edition bottle. This year’s bottle features the artwork of Kentucky native Jaime Corum, who is known for her horse portraits. The painting is title 'Dreams in Bloom' and shows three thoroughbreds racing surrounded by spring flowers, including the red roses of Derby.

Old Forester Announces Next 117 Series Release: 1910 Extra Old

Brown-Forman brand Old Forester has announced the third installment of the 117 Series called 1910 Extra Old. This limited-edition release is Old Forester's standard 1910 Old Fine Whisky that is then added to a secondary barrel for an additional 18 months.
