Bourbon & Whiskey Quick Hits - June 20

Welcome to the latest installment of our Friday Quick Hits. This is our roundup of bourbon and whiskey news that are important, but aren't big enough to warrant an article on their own.
  • Tyrconnell Introduces 16 Year Old Oloroso & Moscatel Cask Finish Limited-Edition Irish Whiskey - Irish Whiskey maker Tyrconnell has introduced their oldest cask-finished expression to date in the form of their 16 year old Oloroso & Moscatel 16 year. This new spirit will hit select markets in June with a MSRP of $100 for a 750 ml bottle and comes in at 92 proof (46% alcohol).

This new spirit was produced using pot stills and only three ingredients... Irish barley, yeast and pure Irish spring water. The spirit spent '16 years in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels before an additional maturation in wine casks from the Andalucia region of Southern Spain, which were initially seasoned with Oloroso sherry before a second seasoning with Moscatel wine.'

Coopers' Craft Bourbon Review

Welcome to the review of Coopers' Craft Bourbon. This is our first foray into Coopers' craft, but we're very family with Brown-Forman from our reviews of Woodford Reserve (one of our favorites) and Old Forester Rye (not one of our favorites). For those unfamiliar with Coopers' Craft, they are named after the Cooper, which is the trade responsible for creating the barrels that the bourbon is aged in. They have the motto "From Bark to Barrel to Bourbon"...

With that said, let's get started with the specifications.

Boone County Eighteen33 12 Year Review

Welcome to the review of Boone County Eighteen33. We've written about Boone County previously on our Bourbon Trail Series. This is our first experience reviewing a Boone County product so we're excited to get started. The interesting thing about this bourbon is that they outsourced the product to fill the gap between when their house-made bourbon will be ready. The Eighteen33 is an homage to when the first Boone County Distilling company was founded. The rumor is that they will run out of this bourbon before their bourbon is ready to hit the shelves. This was confirmed during the tour so if this is in your wheelhouse, stock up while you can.

With that said, let's get started with the specifications.
