Ohio Division of Liquor Control Announces Barrel Select Knob Creek - Available June 22

The Ohio Division of Liquor Control has announced the availability of 15 select barrels picked by Master Distillers Fred Noe, Sr. and Fred Noe, Jr. specifically for the state of Ohio. These unique bottles will available at select Ohio Liquor stores (listed below) beginning at 3pm on Saturday, June 22nd.

The bourbon comes in at 120 proof (60% alcohol) and the rye at 115 (57.5% alcohol) with a price of $43.99 + tax. Note that this is the first time that the State is having a release on a Saturday.

Additionally, if you come to the Grandview Yard Giant Eagle location from 2-4pm, the state will be raffling empty bourbon barrels along with other drawings.

The tasting notes are:

Bourbon

Nose: Smokey with vanilla and caramel
Taste: Vanilla, nuts, and oak
finish: Long

Rye

Nose: Herbs and rye with a hint of oak
Taste: Spicy with undertones of vanilla and oak
finish: Not given

Our Take

I like how the State has been doing larger availability of their limited edition selections. This has over 1000 bottles available statewide. I also like how they are releasing on a Saturday. This gives people more opportunity to participate. In terms of the product, if you're a fan of Knob Creek or looking to get a single barrel pick, this is a great opportunity at a fair price.
