Michter's Announces 2021 Release of 10 Year Single Barrel Rye

Michter's has announced the 2021 release of their annual 10 Year Rye. This is the 3rd year following the 2019 Edition and the 2020 Edition. This release will begin shipping in July.

Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson says about this release:
We wish we had more 10 Year Rye whiskey to share with Michter's fans. Unfortunately, we continue to struggle to meet demand on all of our whiskeys as these expressions require time and attention to detail to reach the peak quality level for which Michter's is known. Despite the limited stocks, we believe Michter's drinkers will be thrilled with the results of this year's efforts.

No tasting notes were provided. The proof is listed at 92.8 on the Michter's website (46.4% alcohol), which is the same as previous years. This release carries a $170 MSRP. For context, the 2019 and 2020 version were $160. It is showing available on the State website at select locations.

My Take

I feel like a broken record with every annual release of this, but $170 is a lot to pay for a single bottle of whiskey... especially if it's not barrel proof. I am encouraged that this is showing available in Ohio so if this is something you've been looking for, I'd act quick to pick up a bottle... however, for me, this is one I'll be passing on due to the price.
