Ohio Division of Liquor Control (OHLQ) Announces WhistlePig Barrel Series #3 of 4 - Available February 7

The Ohio Division of Liquor Control (OHLQ) has announced the availability of the third of four WhistlePig Single Barrel selections that will be offered. The four releases are titled Spicy Pig, Smooth Pig, Rich Pig (this release), and the Sweet Pig (coming next month). The Rich Pig bottles will be available at select stores (see the list below) beginning at 9am on Friday, February 7th.

The Rich Pig was selected by Master Blender Pete Lynch and a team from OHLQ and is available exclusively for Ohio. It has been aged 11 years and is bottled at 120 proof (60% alcohol). It is priced at $99.99 for a 750ml bottle and offers the following tasting notes:

Nose: Toasted oak, lemon zest, grapefruit, and soft notes of vanilla

Taste: Hints of maple syrup, dark chocolate, and baking spices

Finish: Long and oaky with caramel and spice

My Take

Like the previous two releases, this is one I'll be sitting out. I'm not the biggest fan of Whistle Pig and there are plenty of Whistle Pig bottles readily available that I would rather try. Additionally, with each location only receiving 60 bottles, you'll need to put forth a decent amount of effort to score a bottle (arriving at least 30-45 minutes early to wait in line).
