Michter's Names Distiller Dan McKee As Master Distiller

Michter's has announced that current distiller Dan McKee be promoted to Master Distiller succeeding his mentor, Pamela Heilmann, who has announced her retirement. Additionally, Distillery Manager Matt Bell will become distiller. All changes will become effective on May 1, 2019. The 2019 bottling of Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon will be the final Michter's release during Heilmann's tenure as Master Distiller.

Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco issued the following statement:
"After we hired Pam, she brought over Dan with her from her prior company. It quickly became apparent that he was extraordinarily talented and would someday be an outstanding Master Distiller. Pam's contributions to Michter's have been incredible. She is a truly great distiller, and a truly great person. We're all thrilled that she has agreed to stay on in a part-time capacity as a Master Distiller Emerita, and I know Dan and Matt will be terrific in their new roles."
Dan Mckee brings his experience from his previous role at Jim Beam and Matt Bell brings his experience from Town Branch Distillery as well as Wild Turkey Distillery, where he held the position of Distillery Supervisor.

Our Take

We're happy that Michter's had a succession plan in place that will allow them to continue to produce their bourbons and whiskeys at the same high quality that we've seen in the past. We want to wish Pamela Heilmann happiness throughout her retirement and congratulate Dan McKee on becoming Michter's Master Distiller.
