Woodford has announced the release of their 2023 High-Proof Expression simply called 124.7 Proof. This is the same mash bill as regular Woodford, but does not have water added to lower the proof.
This release will be available in limited quantities at the Woodford Reserve Distillery and select retailers across the country. No MSRP was provided. It carries the following tasting notes:
- Nose: Nutty toasted almond, cherry and overripe banana with hints of oak sprinkled with citrus zest that evolves into lively pepper
- Taste: Peppery baking spice, cardamom and pine
- Finish: Leather, cedar and dry vanilla
My Take
Woodford is the bourbon I drink the most so the opportunity to get a batch proof would be pretty cool. It would be slightly better if it were single barrel, but I'll take batch for now. If you see this, I'd recommend picking up a bottle as long it comes in around the $100-125 price.
