Wednesday Bourbon & Whiskey Quick Hits - May 8

Welcome to the latest installment of our Bourbon and Whiskey Quick Hits. This is our roundup of bourbon and whiskey news that are important, but aren't big enough to warrant an article on their own.

  • Sugarfina Creates Caffeinated and Boozy Gummy Bears - Sugarfina has announced the creation of caffeinated Cold Brew Bears®, which are made with real coffee and have 60mg caffeine per serving (equivalent to one shot of espresso)... for those looking for more than coffee buzz, and would prefer a real buzz, they created the Bourbon Cold Brew Bears®, which they say...

"Add a splash of real bourbon for those who need a little something extra to get through their day"

So we'll just get this out of the way.... if you need gummy bears infused with bourbon to get through the day, please get help. However, these do make a fun gift. The gummies are non-alcoholic and go for $8.50 for a small candy cube and $45.00 for a 2.5lb bag

  • Bird Dog Whiskey Launches a Cherry Flavored Whiskey - Bird Dog has announced the creation of a new cherry flavored whiskey they are uncreatively calling Bird Dog Black Cherry Flavored Whiskey. This new whiskey is bottled at 80 proof and has an MSRP of $19.99 for a 750-ml bottle. The product will be launched nationwide throughout the year.

The new spirit is created from an aged Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey and is supposed to feature rich black cherry flavors, and a balanced blend of tart and juicy black cherries with distinct bourbon undertones.
  • Valentine Distilling Co. Announces Bourbon Release Event - Michigan (boo!) based Valentine Distilling has announced they will be releasing a limited amount of Mayor Pingree Black Label Bourbon on May 23 from 5-8 p.m. Tickets to the event are required and will be available only through this link starting Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. Tickets are free, but mandatory to attend. Tickets are limited to the first 100 people. The ticket gives you the opportunity to buy a bottle at $89.99.

"The Mayor Pingree Black Label Bourbon 7 Year release is an age-stated marriage of eight barrels that yielded 1,012 bottles from MGPI in Lawrenceburg, IN. The proof is 118.0. The marriage is a blend of 45 percent 12-year 6-month, 24 percent 13-year 7-month, and 31 percent 7-year 2-month bourbon. Although the 7-year is less than one-third of the blend, the law mandates that Valentine call this a 7-year aged bourbon."
  • Boone County Distilling Announces Raffle for 14 Year Bourbon - Boone County Distilling has announced a raffle for their 14 year old Single Barrel-Barrel Strength bourbon. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20 with 100% of the raffle proceeds benefiting the Adore-a-Bull Pet Rescue.
