Reservoir Distillery Introduces Hunter & Scott Rye Whiskey

Virginia based Reservoir Distillery has announced a new product to their lineup in Hunter & Scott Rye Whiskey. This new rye comes with a 90 proof (45% alcohol), an MSRP of $49.99, and a mash bill comprising of all Virginia-grown 67% rye and 33% wheat.

Dave Cuttino, founder of Reservoir says:
"Hunter & Scott Rye is for the cocktail mixer, a neat pour at the bar or even the everyday sipper. It is made using the same single grain rye as our traditional award-winning Reservoir Rye. And, we are so happy to be able to make a product that is more accessible to whiskey lovers via a $49.99 (MSRP) lower price point,"
The tasting notes for the Hunter & Scott Rye are:

Nose: Black tea, light honey and a hint of cinnamon
Taste: Herbal tea, floral, pepper and sweet spice
Finish: Spicy, warm and lingering.

This new spirit is available nationally online at Sherry's Wine & Spirits, in the tasting room at Reservoir, throughout DC, MD, SC, FL and DL and in select ABC stores in VA.

Our Take

Sadly, Hunter & Scott Rye isn't available in Ohio and the distillery doesn't have any immediate plans to enter the market. However, if you are ever in Virginia or in the select states, this could be a rye worth checking out.

This is our first exposure to Reservoir and one I'll be keeping a close eye on going forward. As always, be sure to check back for all the latest bourbon and whiskey news!
