Woodford Announces Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition

Woodford Reserve has announced the Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition for those with more money than sense. This release is created by 'uniquely finishing the most complex and balanced Kentucky Bourbon in select XO Cognac barrels' and then bottling in a in a bespoke Baccarat decanter.

The Baccarat Edition did not mention an MSRP, but it is available as part of the Ohio Bottle Lottery starting on Monday, October 19th with a price of $2,127.65 + tax.

It comes in at 90.4 proof (45.2% alcohol) and has the following tasting notes:

Nose - Rich toasted oak dusted with chocolate and cocoa notes, creamy vanilla bean, and hints of clove and cinnamon spice cover a deep layer of dried fruit and citrus peel.

Taste - Elegant vanilla, dark chocolate, dried fruit and creamy caramel top layers of rich malt and oak.

Finish - Velvety with a long delicately spiced caramel mocha note.

My Take

First of all, it's insane to spend $2,127.65 + tax on a bottle of bourbon. At that price, each 1.5 oz pour comes out to $125... which is too rich for my blood. I get that this is for rich people and it's an amazing bottle... etc. etc... but this just isn't something I would be interested in as a consumer... nor would the average consumer be able to find this or afford it. For me, it's a hard pass.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
